This Refund Policy explains how refunds work on EventJar. It forms part of, and should be read together with, the EventJar Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.
EventJar is a technology platform that lets an Organizer create a page ("Jar") to collect voluntary contributions and gifts, coordinate RSVPs, and organize tasks or volunteers for a life event. EventJar helps people connect and contribute; it is not the recipient of any contribution, and it is not a bank, money transmitter, escrow agent, trustee, or charity.
Payments on EventJar are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc. ("Payment Processor"). When you contribute, your payment is handled by the Payment Processor under its own terms and privacy policy, and the funds are made available to the Organizer of the Jar you contributed to — not to EventJar. EventJar does not take custody of contributed funds beyond the limited, technical role of facilitating the transaction through the Payment Processor.
Because contributions are made to the Organizer, your relationship with respect to the underlying gift, event, or cause is with that Organizer. EventJar does not control how an Organizer uses funds and does not guarantee that any event will occur, any goal will be met, or any gift, good, or service will be delivered.
Contributions made through EventJar are voluntary gifts or contributions and are generally final and non-refundable once made, and especially once the funds have been disbursed or made available to the Organizer. This is consistent with how group-gifting and contribution platforms operate: once a contribution is transferred toward the Organizer's balance, EventJar can no longer reverse it on the Organizer's behalf.
Before requesting a refund, please consider contacting the Organizer of the Jar directly. The Organizer is best positioned to resolve questions about the event, the gift, or the use of contributions.
While contributions are generally non-refundable, EventJar may, at its sole discretion, support or facilitate a refund in limited circumstances, and only where the funds have not yet been disbursed to the Organizer. Examples include:
Whether a refund can be issued depends on the status of the funds, the Payment Processor's capabilities and timelines, and applicable law. EventJar cannot guarantee a refund in any specific case and does not commit to refunding contributions simply because an event was canceled, postponed, or did not turn out as a contributor hoped.
To request a refund, contact us at support@eventjar.app within 14 days of your contribution. Please include:
We will review eligible requests and respond within 5–10 business days. If a refund is approved, it will be returned to the original payment method through the Payment Processor. The time for the refund to appear depends on the Payment Processor and your card issuer or bank.
EventJar and/or the Payment Processor may charge platform and processing fees in connection with contributions, as described on our Pricing page and at the time of contribution.
Where a refund is issued, the refundable amount may therefore be net of non-refundable fees, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Once contributions have been disbursed to or withdrawn by the Organizer, EventJar cannot reverse the transfer or compel the Organizer to return funds. Any request for the return of disbursed contributions must be made directly to the Organizer. EventJar is not a party to, and is not responsible for, the resolution of such requests, although we may, where appropriate, provide limited assistance or relevant records consistent with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
If you believe a charge was made in error or without authorization, we encourage you to contact us first at support@eventjar.app so we can try to resolve it quickly. You also retain any rights you have to dispute a charge with your card issuer or bank ("chargeback") through the Payment Processor's dispute process.
Please note that filing a chargeback for a legitimate, authorized contribution may result in fees and in account or fund holds for the affected Organizer, and EventJar reserves the right to recover improperly disputed amounts and associated costs from the responsible party, and to suspend or terminate accounts associated with abusive chargeback activity.
EventJar does not guarantee that any event will take place, that any contribution goal will be reached, or that an Organizer will deliver any gift, good, service, or outcome. Unless an Organizer has expressly committed to a refund-if-goal-not-met arrangement and funds remain refundable, contributions are not automatically returned if an event is canceled or postponed or a goal is not met. Contributors should direct such requests to the Organizer.
If you suspect that a contribution was made using your payment method without your authorization, contact us immediately at support@eventjar.app and notify your card issuer or bank. EventJar takes fraud seriously, works with its Payment Processor to investigate suspected fraudulent or unauthorized activity, and may reverse, hold, or refund affected transactions where permitted. See our Trust & Safety page for more on how we address fraud and prohibited activity.
If you purchase a paid EventJar plan, subscription, or add-on (separate from contributions to a Jar), the following applies unless stated otherwise at the point of sale:
Nothing in this Policy limits any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection, payment-services, or other law in your jurisdiction. Where mandatory law gives you broader refund or cancellation rights, those rights prevail.
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date and, where required, communicated to you. Contributions are governed by the version of this Policy in effect at the time of the contribution.
