Trust & Safety

    Effective date: June 15, 2026 · Last updated: June 15, 2026

    EventJar exists to help people show up for each other — for birthdays, baby showers, medical support, team events, and other life moments. Keeping that experience safe and trustworthy matters to us. This page explains how we approach trust and safety, what we expect from everyone who uses EventJar, and what to do if something goes wrong. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.

    1. Our Role — and Its Limits

    EventJar is a technology platform that connects Organizers and contributors and helps coordinate events. Jars, descriptions, goals, and messages are created by users, not by EventJar. We do not author, endorse, verify the accuracy of, or guarantee any Jar, Organizer, event, cause, or outcome, and we are not the recipient of contributions (payments are handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc., and made available to Organizers).

    We take reasonable, good-faith measures to deter abuse and respond to reports, but we cannot guarantee that every user is honest or that every Jar is legitimate. Contributors should use their own judgment and contribute only to people and causes they know and trust.

    2. Who Can Use EventJar

    • You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a Jar, hold an account, or receive funds.
    • EventJar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. See our Privacy Policy.
    • You must provide accurate registration and identity information and keep it current.
    • You may not use EventJar if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or under the terms of our Payment Processor, or if you appear on, or act on behalf of a party on, any applicable sanctions or denied-party list.

    3. Acceptable Use — What's Not Allowed

    To protect the community, you may not use EventJar to organize, fund, request, promote, or facilitate any of the following. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive:

    • Fraud or deception — misrepresenting who you are, who benefits, how funds will be used, or the nature of an event; impersonation; fake or duplicate Jars; or any scheme to deceive contributors.
    • Illegal activity — anything that violates applicable law, including theft, money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, or facilitating any crime.
    • Regulated or prohibited goods and services — firearms, ammunition, explosives, controlled substances or drugs, tobacco or vaping products, prescription items, alcohol sales, gambling, lotteries, raffles, or sweepstakes, except where expressly permitted and fully compliant with law.
    • Money movement abuse — using EventJar primarily as a means to transmit, pool, launder, or "cash out" funds, to make person-to-person money transfers unrelated to a genuine event or gift, or to circumvent our or the Payment Processor's controls.
    • Investment, lending, or financial schemes — securities offerings, loans, debt collection, multi-level marketing, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, or promises of financial return to contributors.
    • Hateful, violent, or harassing conduct — content or fundraising that promotes hatred, violence, discrimination, or harassment against people based on protected characteristics, or that threatens or endangers others.
    • Exploitation and adult content — anything that sexually exploits or endangers minors, non-consensual content, or pornographic or sexually explicit material.
    • Intellectual-property or privacy violations — infringing others' copyrights, trademarks, or other rights, or publishing others' private or personal information without authorization.
    • Malicious or deceptive technical activity — malware, phishing, spam, scraping, or attempts to disrupt, probe, or circumvent the security or integrity of EventJar or the Payment Processor.

    We may add to or refine these rules over time. Where the Payment Processor's restricted-business and acceptable-use rules are stricter, those rules also apply.

    4. Identity Verification and Account Checks

    To help keep EventJar safe and to meet legal and Payment Processor requirements, Organizers who collect funds may be required to complete identity verification and "know-your-customer" (KYC) checks performed by our Payment Processor. This may include providing legal name, date of birth, address, government identification, and bank or payout details. EventJar may limit, delay, or decline payouts, or restrict accounts, where verification is incomplete or where activity appears inconsistent with this Policy.

    5. Financial Crime, Anti-Money-Laundering, and Sanctions

    EventJar and its Payment Processor maintain controls designed to detect and prevent fraud, money laundering, and the financing of illegal activity, and to comply with applicable sanctions programs (including those administered by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)). We may screen, monitor, hold, reject, or report transactions and accounts as required by law or by the Payment Processor, and we may freeze or return funds and suspend accounts where we identify, or are required to act on, prohibited activity.

    6. How We Protect the Community

    We use a combination of automated and human measures designed to reduce abuse, which may include:

    • transaction monitoring and risk scoring through our Payment Processor;
    • limits, holds, or reserves on payouts where risk indicators are present;
    • review of reported Jars and content;
    • removal of content or Jars that violate this Policy or our Terms; and
    • suspension or termination of accounts engaged in prohibited activity.

    These measures are applied on a reasonable-efforts basis and do not constitute a guarantee against loss or misconduct.

    7. Reporting a Concern

    If you see a Jar, message, or account that looks fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, or otherwise in breach of this Policy, please report it to trust@eventjar.app (or use the in-product "Report" option, where available). Helpful details include the Jar name or link, the Organizer's name, dates and amounts, and a description of the concern.

    If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. For suspected fraud affecting your payment, also notify your card issuer or bank. To report suspected exploitation of a minor in the United States, you may also contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

    We review reports we receive and take action where appropriate. To protect privacy and the integrity of investigations, we may not be able to share the outcome of a specific report.

    8. Enforcement

    Where we identify a violation of this Policy or our Terms, we may take any action we consider appropriate and proportionate, including:

    • issuing a warning or requesting additional information or verification;
    • removing or restricting content or a Jar;
    • placing a hold, reserve, or limit on funds or payouts;
    • suspending or terminating accounts; and
    • reversing or refunding transactions where permitted, or returning funds to contributors.

    In cases involving suspected illegal activity, we may also be required to retain, freeze, or report funds and information. Enforcement decisions are made at EventJar's discretion, consistent with our Terms, our Payment Processor's requirements, and applicable law.

    9. Account Security

    Protect your account by using a strong, unique password, keeping your login and any verification codes confidential, and ensuring the email and payout details on your account are accurate. Tell us promptly at support@eventjar.app if you suspect unauthorized access. EventJar will never ask you for your full password, and legitimate EventJar communications will not ask you to move funds to a "safe" account or to share one-time codes.

    10. Disputes Between Users

    EventJar is not a party to the relationship between an Organizer and contributors, and we do not adjudicate disputes about whether an event happened, how funds were used, or whether a gift was delivered. We encourage users to communicate directly to resolve such matters. Our role is limited to operating the platform and enforcing this Policy and our Terms. See the Refund Policy for how contribution refunds are handled.

    11. Law-Enforcement and Legal Requests

    We may preserve, access, and disclose account and transaction information where we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, to enforce our Terms and policies, to detect or prevent fraud or harm, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users, the public, or EventJar. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

    12. No Guarantee

    EventJar provides its platform on a reasonable-efforts basis and does not warrant or guarantee the conduct of any user, the legitimacy of any Jar or event, or the delivery of any gift, good, service, or outcome. Contributing is a personal decision; please contribute only to people and causes you trust. Except as required by law and as stated in our Terms of Service, EventJar is not liable for the acts or omissions of Organizers, contributors, or other third parties.

    13. Changes to This Page

    We may update this Trust & Safety page from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date and, where required, communicated to you.
